Jayne Baek is barely getting by. She shuffles through fashion school, saddled with a deadbeat boyfriend, clout-chasing friends, and a wretched eating disorder that she’s not fully ready to confront. But that’s New York City, right? At least she isn’t in Texas anymore, and is finally living in a city that feels right for her.
On the other hand, her sister June is dazzlingly rich with a high-flying finance job and a massive apartment. Unlike Jayne, June has never struggled a day in her life. Until she’s diagnosed with uterine cancer.
Suddenly, these estranged sisters who have nothing in common are living together. Because sisterly obligations are kind of important when one of you is dying
Hello everybody! i hope you all are having a fantastic day! Today i am going to be reviewing Yolk by Mary H.K. Choi, i can alredy tell you that i absolutley adored it.
Wow. This is definitely the best book that I have read so far in 2021, I loved it, every single little bit of it.
I loved how authentic how real and raw it was, how you could see that life it's not perfect and that we all struggle and go through so much. How it made me think about so many things and made me look at life in so many different angles and perspectives. I loved that I learned many new things about Korean culture, it is always a pleasure to discover more and more.
The relationship that she had with her sister made me cry, laugh and cry again. It was also so relatable not only her connection with her sister but the whole story itself. I don't really want to say much because it really is worth reading without knowing anything, I think that is what actually made me enjoy it so much, the fact that I didn't knew what was about and what was going to happen.
It definitely contains some TW since it deals with sicknes, cancer, eating disorders, so please keep that in mind and be aware before you read it. If you are in a good mental space at the moment please PLEASE read it, it is a wonderful book with a writing styles that I just adored I couldn't get enough of it. If you are not, don't worry love! This book will always be here and waiting for you. You are the most important thing that you have!
I have never read anything about the author but I will 100% now read her other books because I loved the way she got me gripped in the story.
This books DESERVES the rating that I gave it, with creo doubts it was a solid:
5/5⭐️
Ps: if I could give it a 6 I would, that's how you know it was a good good book
THIS NEXT PART CONTAINS SPOILER AND QUOTES OF THE BOOK!
“This is the best part of having a sister. Since we were raised by the same lunatic, under the same condicions, June knows exactly what I'm thinking”
How relatable it that? Omg I fell every single one of these words. Literally if any of you have sibling you will 100% get this. Loved it
