☼SYNOPSIS

They say you can never go home again, and for Persephone Fraser, ever since she made the biggest mistake of her life a decade ago, that has felt too true. Instead of glittering summers on the lakeshore of her childhood, she spends them in a stylish apartment in the city, going out with friends, and keeping everyone a safe distance from her heart.

Until she receives the call that sends her racing back to Barry’s Bay and into the orbit of Sam Florek—the man she never thought she’d have to live without.

For six summers, through hazy afternoons on the water and warm summer nights working in his family’s restaurant and curling up together with books—medical textbooks for him and work-in-progress horror short stories for her—Percy and Sam had been inseparable. Eventually that friendship turned into something breathtakingly more, before it fell spectacularly apart.

When Percy returns to the lake for Sam’s mother’s funeral, their connection is as undeniable as it had always been. But until Percy can confront the decisions she made and the years she’s spent punishing herself for them, they’ll never know whether their love might be bigger than the biggest mistakes of their past.

Told over the course of six years and one weekend, Every Summer After is a big, sweeping nostalgic look at love and the people and choices that mark us forever.

the fact that this reminded me so much of the summer I turned pretty series made it more enjoyable haha.

This is a friends to lovers with a second chance romance, to me that sound like perfection but IDK I feel like there was something lacking.

The summer vibes were there, it was easy to read however, it felt like something I had already read before and when the twist happened I was so not impressed with it.

I really liked the jumps in time and how you get to see their relationship build up, and what was THAT thing that made them fall apart.

With the being said, if you need to feel the void that TSITP has left you, read this book, it would probably fulfill that. But also if you are looking for a quick, not so smutty, summer romance this will also be for you!

first of all, how STUNNING is the cover of this book, i would buy it just to have it!

Now, on to the actual story. It actually was so much fun! it has a mixture of all of the thing i tend to love; mystery, magic and romance!

The mystery aspect is probably one of the most present but as the story keeps evolving, you get to discover the magical world our main characters live in.

The romance was quite cute, it felt new and naïve and something like a first love, i feel like it added a whole new dimension that complemented very well the story.

However, why such a low rating? well, the story does sound incredibly appealing and like i said, right up my alley buuuuut the characters felt a bit flat hence why i couldn’t give it a higher rating. I couldn’t connect with them to a deeper level and didn’t feel all that much when the murder was discovered.

Like i said, everything seems to fit into this book but it was a bit forgettable, i do really recommend it as im sure it could be highly enjoyable for some readers out there!

Erin Beaty was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, which means she can't drive a tractor, but she won't eat veggies that come from a can. She graduated from the US Naval Academy with a degree in rocket science and somehow always ended up writing her study group's lab reports. After serving in the fleet as a weapons officer and a leadership instructor, she resigned to take care of her growing family. It still amazes her when other people want to hear the stories that come out of her head.

She and her husband have five children, two cats, and a vegetable garden and live wherever the navy tells them to go.

☼SYNOPSIS

Bee Königswasser lives by a simple code: What would Marie Curie do? If NASA offered her the lead on a neuroengineering project - a literal dream come true - Marie would accept without hesitation. Duh. But the mother of modern physics never had to co-lead with Levi Ward.

Sure, Levi is attractive in a tall, dark, and piercing-eyes kind of way. But Levi made his feelings toward Bee very clear in grad school - archenemies work best employed in their own galaxies far, far away.

But when her equipment starts to go missing and the staff ignore her, Bee could swear she sees Levi softening into an ally, backing her plays, seconding her ideas... devouring her with those eyes. The possibilities have all her neurons firing.

But when it comes time to actually make a move and put her heart on the line, there's only one question that matters: What will Bee Königswasser do?

OMG this was such a fuuun read!!!

I do have to say that I haven't read the love hypothesis before this one but I believe they are different stories and do not interfiere with each other.

The ambience was everything, I can see why maybe some people don't really vibe with the whole geek and nasa vibes but that made me love this even more!

The romance was also really really cute, their chemistry was absolutely there.

However, I do have a few things that made this book a 4 star instead of a 5. First of all I genuinely feel like everyone expected so much, including me, and while its a good book and I had a really great time (It also went by soooo fast), I could easily forget about it as It is not all that memorable.

Aside from that, the female MC was constantly saying how Levi (the male MC) used to hate her in grad school, he tells her MORE THAN ONCE, that he did not hated her still, she repeated herself every single 20%.

There is also this phenomenon were when only the men validates a woman's work its beloved to be useful, which totally unfair, and while the female MC was making a point about it, she kept being under the men and did not stand up for herself.

Overall, it is a super fast read and quite enjoyable as well, I am know considering reading the love hypothesis even if the hype is long gone haha!

also, if you have read both, which one is better?

My favorite thing in the world is to explore traditional romance tropes—and to picture how they’ll play out in academic settings.

Rival scientists falling in love despite their better judgement?

There’s only one cot in the lab?

Fake dating during faculty meeting?

Sign me up!

I’m originally from Italy, lived in Japan and Germany, and eventually moved to the US to pursue a Ph.D. in Neuroscience. I recently became a professor, which absolutely terrifies me. Oh, the sheer dread of being entrusted with the care of young minds!

When I’m not at work you can find me binge-watching shows with my feline overlords (and my slightly less feline husband), running, or eating candy.

Oh, and I’m a New York Times Bestselling Author.

Hi readers! Today I have a very summery read that reminded me so much of The summer I turned pretty so if you are looking for something similar, definitely check this one out!

the concept for this book was so captivating and I was immediately hooked. We are following a dual perspective, at first I wasn't really into Scarlett's POV but slowly, the MC´s lives interwind and the story got way more interesting.

This is not a spoiler since its literally in the first sentence of the synopsis, but we are following a literal murder, she is a killer and yet I loved her and felt for her. The true horror was not the killing part and how she did it heartless, it was more so the disgusting man behavior in this book. I found myself being repulsed by them and how gross they were. But also, there is a part in this story where I wanted to throw the fucking book out of the window, HOW COULD YOU CARE ABOUT WHAT SHE WAS WEARING, a skirt its not an invitation.

Anywway, it got to a point where I was a bit bored ngl, towards the 70% of this book I was kind of ready for it to be over, nonetheless highly recommend if the blurb sound appealing. If you have ever dealed with shitty man in your life, you will relate to this.

☼SYNOPSIS

Life and a dismal last name are the only two things Beyah Grim's parents ever gave her. After carving her path all on her own, Beyah is well on her way to bigger and better things, thanks to no one but herself.

With only two short months separating her from the future she's built and the past she desperately wants to leave behind, an unexpected death leaves Beyah with no place to go during the interim. Forced to reach out to her last resort, Beyah has to spend the remainder of her summer on a peninsula in Texas with a father she barely knows. Beyah's plan is to keep her head down and let the summer slip by seamlessly, but her new neighbor Samson throws a wrench in that plan.

Samson and Beyah have nothing in common on the surface.

She comes from a life of poverty and neglect; he comes from a family of wealth and privilege. But one thing they do have in common is that they're both drawn to sad things. Which means they're drawn to each other. With an almost immediate connection too intense for them to continue denying, Beyah and Samson agree to stay in the shallow end of a summer fling. What Beyah doesn't realize is that a rip current is coming, and it's about to drag her heart out to sea.

I adoooored this book!

This book was incredible, I loved every aspect of the story. This was not only a romance book, this was much more than that, this was a grieving journey and an incredible difficult live that a very young girl had to live. This was about addiction and how much can it ruin your life, but only that, more so the ones around you. This was about second chances and non-present parents that sometimes deserve another opportunity because they did not know how to do it the first time around. This was also about finding a family, a place where you feel safe and loved. But this was also about love, an unconditional love, one that when life gets hard and you have to leave your soulmate, you never forget them and time will make them come together once again.

Such fast-paced book and one that I couldn't stop reading but also got to the very bottom of my heart, when you are able to relate to a book in some capacity, you feel full and that its what happened to me with this mesmerizing story.
