☼SYNOPSIS

Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders.

But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

With fewer dragons willing to bond than cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success. The rest would kill her just for being her mother’s daughter—like Xaden Riorson, the most powerful and ruthless wingleader in the Riders Quadrant.

She’ll need every edge her wits can give her just to see the next sunrise.

Yet, with every day that passes, the war outside grows more deadly, the kingdom's protective wards are failing, and the death toll continues to rise. Even worse, Violet begins to suspect leadership is hiding a terrible secret.

Friends, enemies, lovers. Everyone at Basgiath War College has an agenda—because once you enter, there are only two ways out: graduate or die

★★★★

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Rebecca Yarros takes readers on an exhilarating journey through the uncharted skies with her latest novel, "Fourth Wing." This gripping tale seamlessly blends elements of romance, suspense, and science fiction, offering a refreshing take on the genre. With its well-crafted plot, dynamic characters, and evocative writing, "Fourth Wing" earns a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars.

At the heart of the story is the charismatic protagonist, Amelia Harper, an audacious pilot with a thirst for adventure and a mysterious past. Yarros skillfully introduces readers to a world where the boundaries of reality are pushed to the limit, and the lines between love and danger become blurred. The plot unfolds with a perfect balance of action and emotion, keeping readers on the edge of their seats as they navigate the twists and turns of this otherworldly narrative.

One of the novel's standout features is Yarros's ability to create a vivid and immersive setting. The futuristic world she builds is rich in detail, with meticulously crafted descriptions that bring the Fourth Wing universe to life. From the bustling airships to the breathtaking landscapes, every aspect of the world feels authentic and serves as a captivating backdrop to the unfolding drama.

The chemistry between the characters is palpable, and Yarros skillfully weaves a complex web of relationships that adds depth to the narrative. Amelia's journey is not just about navigating the skies; it's also about navigating the complexities of her heart. While the pacing is generally well-maintained, there are moments where the plot feels slightly rushed, and certain elements could have been further explored. However, these minor shortcomings are easily overshadowed by the overall strength of the narrative.

In conclusion, "Fourth Wing" is a thrilling and captivating read that will leave readers yearning for more. Rebecca Yarros has crafted a novel that transcends genre boundaries, offering a unique blend of romance and science fiction that is sure to resonate with a wide audience. With its dynamic characters, well-developed world-building, and pulse-pounding plot, "Fourth Wing" earns its place among the must-reads of the year, securing a well-deserved 4.5 out of 5 stars.

first of all, how STUNNING is the cover of this book, i would buy it just to have it!

Now, on to the actual story. It actually was so much fun! it has a mixture of all of the thing i tend to love; mystery, magic and romance!

The mystery aspect is probably one of the most present but as the story keeps evolving, you get to discover the magical world our main characters live in.

The romance was quite cute, it felt new and naïve and something like a first love, i feel like it added a whole new dimension that complemented very well the story.

However, why such a low rating? well, the story does sound incredibly appealing and like i said, right up my alley buuuuut the characters felt a bit flat hence why i couldn’t give it a higher rating. I couldn’t connect with them to a deeper level and didn’t feel all that much when the murder was discovered.

Like i said, everything seems to fit into this book but it was a bit forgettable, i do really recommend it as im sure it could be highly enjoyable for some readers out there!

Hi readers! Today I actually have a bit of a disappointing read, I was in a super fantasy romance mood and decided to pick this huge book, spoiler, I wasn’t a good idea and I kind of hated it…oh well

☼SYNOPSIS

Aria and her sisters return to the Human Realm of Haven Falls to find one of their own that’s gone missing. They soon discover things have changed in the Human Realm and that nothing is what it seems, including Knox, the egotistical, self-centered, frustratingly gorgeous man who declared himself King during their absence.

Sparks fly when the two enter a fiery battle of wills as Aria learns she is more than just a witch in the Hecate bloodline; she is much, much more.

Will Aria embrace her savage side to find her sister and save her family, or will she burn to ashes from his heated kisses and burning hot embrace?

Knox has ulterior motives for being in Haven Falls and never expected the little witch to show up and brazenly challenge his rule.

It was supposed to be easy; get in and get out. Move pieces into place and set the stage for the war he’s been planning for over five hundred years. Aria is his sworn enemy but something within her calls to him and he hates himself for craving the fiery kisses that have reignited his cold, dead heart. One taste, and he thought he could get her out of his system. He was wrong.

Will Knox let go of the memories of the past, driving his need for revenge that will destroy the pretty little witch he craves, or will he push the boundaries to fight for and claim what is his by right? Either way, war is inevitable. And nothing will stop him from reaching for what is his.

this was... not good.

this book was not able to hold my interest at all.

i didn't care for the characters and at one point, I forgot what the book was even about since I felt like nothing was happening.

i HATED the male MC, he was mean and rude and I just could enjoy the relationship that he had with the MC.

I felt like their romance came out of nowhere and the buildup was quite fake.

i also didnt like the world, maybe it was because I wasnt paying a lot of attention at one point, but the world building was a bit confussig.

it is waaaay too long and you definitely need a lot of patience because the action doesn't pick up until the halfway point.

there is too much abuse, and disgusting derogatory behavior toward woman.

would not recommend tbh

Saddnes does not come close to what i’m feeling right now, and that is because i didn’t enjoyed this as much as i thought i would.

now i do want to preface a few things, fir of all being that i’m in a huge reading slump so i basically forced the reading experience in a way that makes no justice to this wonderfully written book.

so i’m conflicted right now, because this wasn’t the best book ever or as good as i thought because it wasn’t able to keep me reading at all times.

however i do have a few things to say, for of all; the world building, OMG it’s spectacular, the persian mythology inspiration that comes from this book was really nice. overall it was quite a different and unique book and i learned and acquired to much wisdom from this book that makes me extremely upset the fact that i had to physically force my self to finish it.

this was in no way, shape or form the books fault and for that reason i’m writing it down in my list of re-reads as i’m sure i will appreciated much more when the time is right

Gold.

Gold floors, gold walls, gold furniture, gold clothes. In Highbell, in the castle built into the frozen mountains, everything is made of gold.

Even me.

King Midas rescued me. Dug me out of the slums and placed me on a pedestal. I’m called his precious. His favored. I’m the woman he Gold-Touched to show everyone that I belong to him. To show how powerful he is. He gave me protection, and I gave him my heart. And even though I don’t leave the confines of the palace, I’m safe.

Until war comes to the kingdom and a deal is struck.

Suddenly, my trust is broken. My love is challenged. And I realize that everything I thought I knew about Midas might be wrong.

Because these bars I’m kept in, no matter how gilded, are still just a cage. But the monsters on the other side might make me wish I’d never left.

Author’s Note: This is a fantasy romance m/f story. There will be monarchs and magic and fae and steam and violence and all the feels. This book contains explicit content and mature language not intended for anyone under 18 years of age. This is book one of three in the series, so that means it won’t be tied up in a bow at the end. In fact, the bow is probably going to be tossed right off a cliff. But it’ll be worth the fall.

this was... this was interesting.

I liked the concept, I thought the idea of her being made of gold was super interesting and unlike anything I have ever seen before, however, this book had one too many flaws.

don't get me wrong, I liked it but I had to get 200 pages into it in order for interesting stuff to actually happen.

the beginning was soooo bizarre and there were so many scenes that made no sense to me, but not just only at the beginning since there were uncenessary scenes all throughout the book.

WAAAAY too much sexual violence for absolutely no reason, there were a few moments that made me feel a bit uncomfortable because I thought they could have been easily cut out.

However, apart for a few bits and bobs I did enjoy this, it was interesting and im excited to see where the story goes, unfortunately the second book its not on my high priority TBR but I know I will get to it eventually!

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I freaking love this book. I was so invested into the story it’s not about funny how I spent literally hours thinking about it after I finished it.

we are following our female main character, she’s in a prison and she’s the healer (pretty much the title is very self explanatory), but she’s also in charge of I guess healing all of the new prisoners that comes and that’s how she meets our male main character.

they developed this relationship that I felt instantly in love with our male main character was so likable so caring of her and I just wanted to hug him. but this is in no way the only thing that’s interesting about this book because behind story there’s this political conflict that’s going on and we’re being introduced to a lot of different characters that has to do with the story and it has to do with what’s happening outside the prison.

A lot of things happened in this book, so many that you don’t even have time to get bored like there’s always something going on and there’s many cliffhangers so you need to keep reading but none of them compare to the ending of this book because the cliffhanger that this book has made me stay awake for hours thinking about it and THEN buying the second book.

also I really want to mention the friend of the female character I think he was called tipp, I freaking loved him I could cry talking about tipp because he has my heart.

anyways PLEASE read this book, it’s so worth it!
