☼SYNOPSIS

What I learned after last year’s distractions cost my hockey team our entire season? No more screwing up. No more screwing, period. As the new team captain, I need a new philosophy: hockey and school now, women later. Which means that I, Hunter Davenport, am officially going celibate…no matter how hard that makes things.

But there’s nothing in the rulebook that says I can’t be friends with a woman. And I won’t lie—my new classmate Demi Davis is one cool chick. Her smart mouth is hot as hell, and so is the rest of her, but the fact that she’s got a boyfriend eliminates the temptation to touch her.

Except three months into our friendship, Demi is single and looking for a rebound.

And she’s making a play for me.

Avoiding her is impossible. We’re paired up on a yearlong school project, but I’m confident I can resist her. We’d never work, anyway. Our backgrounds are too different, our goals aren’t aligned, and her parents hate my guts.

Hooking up is a very bad idea. Now I just have to convince my body—and my heart.

REVIEW

★★★★

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is the literal definition for winter read. It’s cozy and so so atmospheric. I believe this is sort of a retelling for The Nutcracker, however I could not be able to compare them both since (and I am in fact very ashamed of it) I have never watched nor read anything related to the original story.

So i am just going to talk about it in general aspects and not so much as a retelling. It was so whimsical and i know this may sound weird but whatever the cover makes you feel it’s exactly was the story will make you feel. Beautifulnnes (may have butchered the spelling for the word lol).

I love so many aspect of the story, the main one being how the women supported each other in order to scape the oppressing men world.

“For all woman, no matter their class or skin colour. Your attitude is outdated. A relic better befitting your collection than seeing the light of day.”

I- just WOW, the power. They just come all together and I know this is something we are used to in books nowadays but it keeps giving me chills every single time i read about it.

Even tho the women power is something that I appreciate i books and in fact never get tired of, the plot and atmosphere were the strongest points to this one. The witting style makes you feel like you are literally in the beautiful wintery world.

So, don’t walk , RUN because Winter season is almost over and you should make sure that this stunning story is on you TBR!
