REVIEW

⭐⭐⭐⭐️⭐️
Rating: 5 out of 5.

This was such a remarkable and amazing story. I have so many thoughts about it but still so little that I am able to say to keep you all in the dark as I think that it the way to go with this one.

One of the main and most important points about this book are the two main characters, they get the stunning black representation as main characters that is needed in so many books. I thought that there were going to be many parts that were going to be cliche since it’s a very familiar story (aka PLL)  but it wasn’t, definitely a very pleasant surprise. I found that the fact that they had to come together despite their million differences was something I very much enjoyed as well.

The world was so well-built that is one of the reasons that it did not sound as familiar as I originally thought it would, the plot was very complex and honestly I quite liked it. I think there is a very strong black representation and respect aspect of the book and there were moments were I kind of forgot that I was reading about a fictional story, but I’m not complaining.

Maybe I would have expected something different from the ending but If I had the chance to rewrite this story I would not change a single little bit. Stunning in every way shape and form.

Book Title: Missing Witches

Author: Risa Dickens and Amy torok

Sinopsis: When you start looking for witches, you find them everywhere. As seekers and practitioners reclaim and restore magic to its rightful place among powerful forces for social, personal, and political transformation, more people than ever are claiming the identity of “Witch.” But our knowledge of witchcraft and magic has been marred by erasure, sensationalism, and sterilization, the true stories of history’s witches left untold.

Through meditations, stories, and practices, authors Risa Dickens and Amy Torok offer an intersectional, contemporary lens for uncovering and reconnecting with feminist witch history. Sharing traditions from all over the world—from Harlem to Haiti, Oaxaca to Mesopotamia—Missing Witches introduces readers to figures like Monica Sjoo, HP Blavatsky, Maria Sabina, and Enheduanna, shedding light on their work and the cultural and sociopolitical contexts that shaped it. Structured around the 8 sabbats of the Wheel of the Year, each chapter includes invocations, rituals, and offerings that incorporate the authors’ own wisdom, histories, and journeys of trauma, loss, and empowerment. Missing Witches offers an inside look at the vital stories of women who have practiced—and lived—magic.

Book Title: The price guide to the occult

       Author: Lesley Walton

Sinopsis: When Rona Blackburn landed on Anathema Island more than a century ago, her otherworldly skills might have benefited friendlier neighbors. Guilt and fear instead led the island’s original eight settlers to burn “the witch” out of her home. So Rona cursed them. Fast-forward one hundred–some years: All Nor Blackburn wants is to live an unremarkable teenage life. She has reason to hope: First, her supernatural powers, if they can be called that, are unexceptional. Second, her love life is nonexistent, which means she might escape the other perverse side effect of the matriarch’s backfiring curse, too. But then a mysterious book comes out, promising to cast any spell for the right price. Nor senses a storm coming and is pretty sure she’ll be smack in the eye of it. In her second novel, Leslye Walton spins a dark, mesmerizing tale of a girl stumbling along the path toward self-acceptance and first love, even as the Price Guide’s malevolent author — Nor’s own mother — looms and threatens to strangle any hope for happiness.

Book Title: Everyone knows your mother is a witch

       Author: Rivka Galchen

Sinopsis: The story begins in 1618, in the German duchy of Württemberg. Plague is spreading. The Thirty Years' War has begun, and fear and suspicion are in the air throughout the Holy Roman Empire. In the small town of Leonberg, Katharina Kepler is accused of being a witch.

Katharina is an illiterate widow, known by her neighbors for her herbal remedies and the success of her children, including her eldest, Johannes, who is the Imperial Mathematician and renowned author of the laws of planetary motion. It's enough to make anyone jealous, and Katharina has done herself no favors by being out and about and in everyone's business.

So when the deranged and insipid Ursula Reinbold (or as Katharina calls her, the Werewolf) accuses Katharina of offering her a bitter, witchy drink that has made her ill, Katharina is in trouble. Her scientist son must turn his attention from the music of the spheres to the job of defending his mother. Facing the threat of financial ruin, torture, and even execution, Katharina tells her side of the story to her friend and next-door neighbor Simon, a reclusive widower imperiled by his own secrets.

Drawing on real historical documents but infused with the intensity of imagination, sly humor, and intellectual fire for which Rivka Galchen is known, Everyone Knows Your Mother Is a Witch will both provoke and entertain. The story of how a community becomes implicated in collective aggression and hysterical fear is a tale for our time. Galchen's bold new novel touchingly illuminates a society and a family undone by superstition, the state, and the mortal convulsions of history.

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Okay this was a fun time. This is basically a fantasy standalone I believe which was appreciated since we dont get to see a lot of those.
However, it was not the best and there were a lot of aspects missing.

The characters for example, were underdeveloped and there was absolutely not personality growth in any of them

I also did not believe nor loved the romance, it felt hollow to me and super unreal. I also low key hated the love triangle, it was unnecessary and underdeveloped.

Also the plot and everything that happened like the plot twits were so familiar, the type where you know that you have read something like this before.

It was a three start from me and looking back on it, maybe its a bit too generous but oh well , I rated it in the moment and I guess the ending made me like it more.

Will it be memorable? No, Do I recommend it? Maybe yes, I do believe that there are many more fantasies out there but it wasn't terrible, I did had a fun time

SYNOPSIS

The Inheritance Games ended with a bombshell, and now heiress Avery Grambs has to pick up the pieces and find the man who might hold the answers to all of her questions - including why Tobias Hawthorne left his entire fortune to Avery, a virtual stranger, rather than to his own daughters or grandsons.

Thanks to a DNA test, Avery knows that she's not a Hawthorne by blood, but clues pile up hinting at a deeper connection to the family than she had ever imagined. As the mystery grows and the plot thickens, Grayson and Jameson, the enigmatic and magnetic Hawthorne grandsons, continue to pull Avery in different directions. And there are threats lurking around every corner, as adversaries emerge who will stop at nothing to see Avery out of the picture - by any means necessary.

REVIEW

⭐⭐⭐⭐
Rating: 4 out of 5.

Okay, the review took a bit long but its finally here and I have some thoughts and things to say.

It was great, like i did quite like it, I have to say that not as much as the first one but oh boy it was good.

There is something about both of the books that just keeps making you to turn the page over an over, there were mini cliff hangers at the end of almost every chapter and I just had to read the next one. Like the first book, the chapter were super sort and before you even notice you have already devour half of it.

The plot was great, the cliff hangers were amazing, the plot twist were everything, the romance, the romance not so much.
In the first book you are being introduced for the first time to all of the characters and you are invested into every single one of them but in this second one the romance between our main character and the boys felt a bit old. It just felt like they were stacked in the same place and don’t get me wrong, I loooove the romance interest and because of that I was a bit impatient for something really big to happen.

But the absolute rest of the story makes up for this tini tiny part. I looove the world of this book, the mystery cozy vibes are absolutely immaculate.

Over all I am happy with this read, even though the beginning was a bit slow and dragged for a bit too long, It was great. I did enjoyed the first one more but still I do recommend reading the second one! I mean after the end of The inheritance games you are not going to be able to step away from this next part of the story!

REVIEW

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Rating: 5 out of 5.
This is one that i was absolutely not expecting to be this good.
We are following two different stories in different time periods and that is a concept that I loved and found super interesting. Both of the stories were super different but still felt connected and like both the main characters knew each other.

Also the chapters that were in the past following Nella and Eliza, were written in what it felt like a different way like more magical and lyrical.
The relationship between Nella and Eliza was the cutest, Nellla was like a mother to the poor child and I swear my heart felt warm while reading their story.

The concept of the books is immaculate, women helping women over oppressive men from back in the day, yes please and not just that one because there were so many hidden life lessons in this amazing story, feminism and letting people go to fulfill your dreams. It was waaaaay more than just an apothecary story.

I will admit that maybe objectively this book its not a five starts but I loved it SO MUCH that I could not give it any less and at the end of the day, that is what matters right?
The ending gave me chills and by the end a single tear was falling through my face, I genuinely felt so sad for letting the story and the characters go, I can not wait for the reread.
